Shocking Video Shows A ‘Mass Casualty’ Event As A Bridge Falls Into The Water

The Baltimore city fire department was called to the scene of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. It happened at about 1:30 AM, but when they arrived, the bridge was no longer standing.

According to the director of communications, the bridge was struck by a large vessel and it collapsed into the river. It wasn’t long before footage taken of the incident started circulating online and it truly is devastating to see.

They were not quite sure how many people were injured at first and more information is forthcoming in the details. What they do know, however, is that the US Coast Guard and various Maryland agencies were called to the scene that is being called a mass casualty incident.

According to authorities, as many as 20 workers were in the river after the bridge collapsed. There is still information coming in about the number of casualties.

Unfortunately, this situation has also triggered many people who are already nervous about crossing the water on a bridge in the first place. It is very rare for this sort of thing to occur, but you may want to avoid watching the video if it is of particular concern to you.

At this point, they are looking into how many people have been affected by the collapse of the 47-year-old bridge. Obviously, it is closed to traffic and all claims in both directions are being detoured.

The ship was flagged in Singapore and bound for Colombo port in Sri Lanka. It was approximately 983 feet long and 48 feet wide. All members of the crew on board the ship are accounted for at this time.
