When my washing machine broke while babysitting my grandson, I reluctantly went to the laundromat. A kind stranger offered to hold the baby while I sorted clothes, and I gratefully accepted. But when I turned around, I froze—Tommy had a Tide pod in his mouth.
I snatched it away, furious and terrified. The man shrugged it off, claiming “no harm done.” Furious, I grabbed Tommy and fled home, guilt washing over me for trusting a stranger. After a frantic call to the doctor, I was reassured, but the “what ifs” haunted me.
By the time my daughter returned, I was exhausted but relieved. I learned my lesson: never again would I risk Tommy’s safety, no matter how harmless a situation seemed.
