My Little Son Accidentally Exposed My Husband’s Secret — I Dug for the Truth and It Shattered Me

When my son discovered a hidden drawer, I never expected the truths it held would devastate me. Finding my husband’s affair with my own mother’s letters, I devised a plan to confront them at dinner, forever changing our lives.

While folding Liam’s laundry, I heard him struggling in the next room. “Mommy, help!” he called. I found him at James’ locked desk drawer.

“What are you doing, buddy?” I asked, kneeling beside him.

“Locking it like Daddy does,” he replied innocently, showing me his scribbled papers. “These are my letters. Daddy puts his in here, so I wanted to too.”

Curiosity struck. “Why does Daddy lock this drawer?”

Liam shrugged. “He says it’s private. I saw him put letters in here.”

“Letters?” I probed. “Can you show me?”

With childish skill, Liam wiggled the drawer open—James must have forgotten to lock it. Inside were folded letters. My heart raced recognizing my mother’s handwriting.

“Go play outside, Liam,” I said, hiding my shock.

Alone, I read the letters. They were love notes from my mother to James, urging him to leave me.

I felt sick. How long had this been going on? I needed proof before confronting James or my mother.

I devised a plan, forging a letter from James to Linda, arranging a café meeting. I watched from a distance as Linda arrived, expecting James.

“Mom,” I said coldly, joining her table.

“Kate? What are you doing here?”

“I could ask you the same.” I laid out the letters.

Linda’s surprise turned to arrogance. “You’ve been snooping.”

“Explain this,” I demanded.

Linda sighed. “James deserves better than you.”

“Funny, you mean you?”

“Yes,” she admitted. “You’re lazy, unattractive, and unworthy of him.”

I clenched my fists. “You and my mother… How could you?”

James reached for me, but I recoiled. “Don’t touch me.”

The truth was out. I had to protect Liam and myself from their betrayal.
