The whole country is mourning the passing. Seven people died in the horror plane accident including three members of the Grammy-nominated band

A tragic plane crash has claimed the lives of the Nelons, a beloved gospel family in the United States. Seven individuals perished in the accident, including Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, their daughter Amber Nelon Kistler, and two other Grammy-nominated family members. Also among the deceased were Amber’s husband Nathan Kistler, family employee Melodi Hodges, and the pilot Larry Haynie, along with his wife Melissa.

Autumn Nelon Streetman, a member of the band and the fourth season of The Nelon, was not on the plane at the time.

On Friday, the band members were en route to Alaska to join the Gaither Homecoming Cruise. Their plane crashed over Wyoming, igniting a large forest fire upon impact.

A video taken just before boarding shows Jason talking to his family and the pilot on a Nebraska runway, smiling. Pilot Larry, who owned the jet, is seen in the background of the video, taken when the group stopped to refuel around noon.

The video captures the seven people on board, with five of them laughing and joking about the upcoming trip. Tragically, the plane later crashed, bursting into flames. Firefighters and emergency workers rushed to the scene as a wildfire broke out, but no one survived, according to the Wyoming sheriff’s office.

Autumn Nelon Streetman released a statement about the tragedy: “As many of you know by now, my parents, Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, along with my sister Amber, brother-in-law Nathan, and our dear friends Melodi Hodges, Larry, and Melissa Haynie, were in a terrible plane crash on Friday. For the prayers that have already been said for me, my husband Jamie, our soon-to-be-born son, and Jason’s parents, Dan and Linda Clark, thank you. Your prayers, love, and support will help us get through the next few days. Thank you.”

The plane, a Pilatus PC-12/47E owned by Haynie Enterprises, will be investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.

In 2016, The Nelons were inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame, widely recognized as one of the most important families in US gospel history. They are known for popular songs such as “I Shall Not Be Moved,” “Come Morning,” and “We Shall Wear a Robe and Crown.” Over their career, they have been nominated for three Grammys.
