Loving husband and wife Christie and Wesley Werts began their love story five years ago, becoming a blended family when they tied the knot.
Merging Christie’s daughter, Megan, with Wesley’s children, Austin and Dakota, they created a beautiful family.
Though, little did they know that their love story would take a unique turn, leading them to welcome a miracle baby, Levi, into their lives through adoption.
The Werts family’s journey to adopt Levi was marked by resilience and determination, spanning 16 months of anticipation. Levi’s adoption holds a poignant twist: his biological mother, Wesley’s former partner, tragically passed away just days after his premature birth in August 2021 due to addiction-related complications worsened by COVID-19.
Christie, having experienced foster care herself, was determined to offer Levi a stable and loving home, a decision influenced by recurring dreams of a blue-eyed blond baby. When they met Levi in Texas through Child Protection Services, the moment mirrored Christie’s dream, solidifying her conviction that he was meant to be their son.
Navigating through legal proceedings, including terminating Levi’s biological father’s parental rights, the Werts family faced additional challenges, including relocating from Ohio to Texas. After 16 months of rigorous processes, Levi’s adoption was finalized, and the family could finally bring him home.
Despite the heartwarming tale, Christie faced criticism online for sharing their story, with some expressing concern for Levi’s future well-being. However, many others offered their congratulations and well wishes to the new family.
